First Lady BillieJo McKinney

Mrs. BillieJo L. McKinney has a strong love and passion to advocate for and assist people who face economic, social and developmental challenges. Because of her this advocacy she enrolled in Minnesota Community Technical College with a focus on Human Service. During the course of her studies she had to withdraw from MCTC to serve as a fulltime caretaker for her nephew who was born with a developmental disability. Prior to leaving Memphis she was a fulltime student at Bethel University acquiring a degree in Management and Organizational Development.

Lady McKinney has a passion for inner city youth particularly girls that are confined into the Juvenile Correctional Facility. While in Minneapolis she serve as Assistant Director for Good Grades and Games a youth program under the Neighborhood Involvement Program of Minneapolis, Mentor at Anwatin Middle School and Youth Counselor for Institute of Minority Development. In Memphis she served as a Children and Youth Advisor at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. 

She is empowered by the proverbial words of Solomon: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

She is a devoted wife to Dr. Darron McKinney Sr. and a loving mother to Diamond and Darron Jr.
